Art & Allies: Lady Dior Bag @ the Triennale

When at the beginning of October the online fashion retailer Yoox opened a section dedicated to Art, there was no more doubt: the new trend is on. Art is cool. Art helps boost the sales. But above all, Art goes well with anything, from business consultancy to fashion bags to… whatever! Just a perfect spice?

100 artists for 1 bag

Fashion brands’ collaboration with single artists is no news: Takashi Murakami has been producing his superflat art on Louis Vuitton bags since 2002 (this year the French maison teamed up with Yayoi Kusama so their bags are now populated with dots & bubbles); as for Damien Hirst, the art marketing guru and father of the pickled shark is now selling the diamond skulls on Yoox.

What is amazing (or amazingly new) is how one bag became the centre of the story for tens of photographers, visual artists and filmmakers. The story went on stage in a perfect location: Triennale Design Museum.

Lady Dior Bag as Seen by, from October 11 to November 4. Too short, but left a big impression. Art did its job well, after all..?
